Branding & Awareness

Geofencing and Display Ads Across Los Angeles

Draw a boundary around a block, a venue, or a competitor's parking lot. The phones that cross it start seeing your ads on the sites they read all week.

HOW THE FENCE WORKS

Draw a Boundary, Reach Everyone Who Crosses It

A geofence is a shape you draw on a map — a shopping centre in Century City, a gym in Culver City, the block around a competitor's showroom. When a phone enters that shape, it joins your audience, and your display ads start appearing on the news sites, weather apps and blogs that person already uses. The fence can stay up for months or run for a single weekend event. Because we also operate an indoor screen network across LA, we can fence the venues our screens already sit in, so the same person sees your brand on the screen in the room and again on their phone that evening.

Draw a Boundary, Reach Everyone Who Crosses It

Display Reaches People Before They Start Searching

Search ads only find people already typing your service into Google. Display reaches everyone else — the ones who have not started looking yet, on the sites they visit between searches. Layer geofencing on top and you decide exactly which neighbourhoods of Los Angeles that happens in. Works hardest alongside indoor billboard advertising and social media, where the same face sees the same brand in three different places.

Launch Your Campaign

What a Geofence Actually Gets You

Four things this format does that broad display buying cannot.

Precision Targeting

Pick the map, not the demographic. A fence around three LA blocks reaches the people who physically go there, which beats guessing at an age range and an interest category.

Brand Awareness

Most people need to see a brand several times before the name sticks. Display buys those repetitions cheaply, across sites your customer already trusts.

Competitive Advantage

Fence a competitor's address and reach their customers on the drive home. It is the one channel where you can advertise directly into somebody else's foot traffic.

Real-Time Insights

Every fence reports separately, so you learn which neighbourhoods respond and which ones never convert, then move the budget accordingly.
Background

How We Run a Geofencing Campaign

Four stages, and you see the map before anything goes live.

Strategy

Strategy

We sit down with a map of Los Angeles and mark the addresses worth fencing — your location, the competitors, the venues and events your customers actually attend.

Execution

Execution

We build the ad creative in the sizes the ad exchanges require and switch the fences on. You approve the map and the artwork before a single impression runs.

Measure

Measure

Reporting breaks results out fence by fence, so you can see that the Hermosa Beach boundary is pulling and the Torrance one is not.

Optimize

Optimize

We redraw the fences that underperform, retire the creative that fatigues, and move spend toward whichever boundary is producing.

What Working With Hot Fry 360 Looks Like

We are a small LA shop. You deal with the people doing the work.

We Start With the Map

Before any budget talk, we want to know where your customers physically are in this city. That conversation usually changes the plan.

We Price It Plainly

You get the fence list, the creative scope and the monthly figure in writing. No retainer that quietly renews forever.

We Build It

Creative, targeting, tracking and launch. You approve the map and the artwork; we handle the ad platforms.

We Report Fence by Fence

Not one blended number. You see which boundaries produced and which did not, in plain language.

We Redraw It

Fences that do not perform get moved or dropped. This is the part most agencies skip once the campaign is live.

We Pick Up the Phone

You are calling the people who built the campaign, not a ticket queue in another timezone.

WE'VE GOT ANSWERS

Geofencing Questions We Get Asked

1. How small can a geofence be?

Small enough to cover a single building, though very tight fences collect fewer devices and cost more per person reached. In practice a shopping centre, a venue, or a few square blocks is the sweet spot for Los Angeles.

2. Can I fence my competitor's location?

Yes, and it is one of the most common requests we get. Anyone whose phone enters that boundary can be served your ads afterwards. It is legal, widely used, and your competitors may already be doing it to you.

3. How long do people stay in the audience after entering a fence?

That is a setting, not a fixed rule. A restaurant might retarget for a week; a car dealership might keep someone in the pool for a month or more, since the buying cycle is longer. We set it to match how long your customers take to decide.

4. Do you need my customers' phone numbers or personal data?

No. Geofencing works from anonymised device location signals the ad exchanges already hold. You never hand us a customer list and we never see who any individual is.

5. Does this work with your indoor screens?

That is the combination we recommend most. We fence the venues where our screens already run, so someone sees your ad on the screen in the room and then again on their phone later that week. Two formats, one audience, one brand.
